Holiday Giving with Project Sweet Peas!
Project Sweet Peas is gearing up for a HUGE holiday season this year! We are not only donating as usual to our main hospital, St. Joe's in Milwaukee, but have also added St. Mary's in Milwaukee as well to start receiving our long term NICU bags. Our next delivery to both of these hospitals is December 20. We are also thrilled to be able to provide some additional holiday cheer to families who have a child in the hospital this holiday season. We are giving EACH family at both hospitals a special gift bag with a teddy bear, holiday ornament, candy cane and Santa hat! And because of the generosity of so many people this last year, we are also looking to expand to other area hospitals in the future--even if it is just a one-time donation of needed items. As always, we thank you for your continued support. If you are in a position to give this holiday season or next, please consider making a donation to us. You can see what items we are always in need of by checking out the rest of the site.

Mother's Day Adopt a Mom Campaign
Mother's Day 2012 is right around the corner! I hope everyone is planning something special for their mom, grandma, mom-to-be or other special "mom" in their life. This year, you can make a BIG difference to a mom right here in our area for only a SMALL amount of money! For just five bucks, you can sponsor TWO bracelets to be donated on Mother's Day to moms that currently have a child in the NICU at St. Joe's Hospital in Milwaukee. Five dollars doesn't get you much anymore--a fancy coffee drink, a kid's fast food meal, a candy bar or other treat that will fill you up temporarily. Why not take those same five dollars and put them to an even greater cause--easing a mom's suffering as she spends Mother's Day visiting her child in the hospital. To donate, simply click the link below and choose Lauren and Madeline's Gift from the drop-down menu. That's it! Orders can be placed until May 2 and still be delivered in time for Mother's Day.

Second Annual Charity Luncheon
Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us at our Second Annual Charity Luncheon and Silent Auction! We had a great time this year!! I couldn't have done it without the support of so many family and friends--thanks to everyone who brought a silent auction item or made a yummy dessert for us. And thanks to everyone who bid on the great items this year. A HUGE thank you goes out to my dear old friend Ron Bailey of Silver Spoon Entertainment! If you have an event coming up and you need a DJ--I can't recommend him enough! And some of you may remember--he not only DJs, he also performs wedding ceremonies if need be.
Please continue to spread the word about this great charity to your friends, family and co-workers. We will only be able to continue to help families in need if we continue to grow in our support from the community.

Hello and Welcome!!
Hello and welcome to my first attempt at maintaining a blog on my local Project of Project Sweet Peas--Lauren and Madeline's Gift. As many of you know, I started this project in honor of our twin girls, Lauren and Madeline, who were born at just 27 weeks gestation due to Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome. I now focus as much of my spare time as possible on giving back to the hospital where our girls were born and spent their first 75 days of life, St. Joesph's Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. I donate gift bags to parents that currently have a child in the intensive care unit of the hospital filled with the following items--disposable camera, picture frame, journal and pen, tissues, lotion, chap stick, face cloths, baby blanket, children's book, puzzle book, teddy bear and other goodies I find along the way. These items--all small in nature--make a tremendous impact to parents faced with the extraordinary circumstance of having a premature baby.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to help us fulfill this mission--you can donate items to help us fill the bags; knit, sew, crochet or no-sew blankets for the bags; volunteer to help assemble bags at various times throughout the year; spread the word to friends, co-workers, organizations;or make a monetary donation. Any and all help is appreciated.
